Death of Democracy

Well here is my gripe. 700 Billion Dollars. Have you sat down and figured out how much of that is your share? It is probably more than you are willing to fork over (voluntarily) to support greed and irresponsibility. 700 Billion dollars. Centralization of a large portion of the American economy within the federal government. Right out of Karl Marx's playbook. Are you willing to give up your freedom, in order that those that were greedy and those that borrowed irresponsibly can be forgiven? If failure to pass this massive wealth transfer results in a recession, or worse, a depression, wouldn't that be better than sacrificing freedom that your children and grandchildren could enjoy? From 1776 to World War II, men sacrificed their LIVES, to ensure we enjoyed a freedom unknown to any other nation or empire in the history of the world. Now, from the President, (who I have ardently supported for 8 years), to the congress, there doesn't seem to be one man or woman willing to sacrifice their good name or legacy on preserving that very freedom. Not their physical life, just their legacy. Noone wants to take the blame should the worst case scenario happen. You can bet; however, that merely throwing 700 Billion Dollars at the problem, without correcting that which caused the problem, will only postpone the pain. Just my opinion.

Amen Brother Ben! I'm sick to death of the lying and greed, the inability of politicians to EVER admit they've made a mistake and then try to fix it, rather than passing the buck. Oh, and now the President has turned into a door mat. The House Republicans, and a few Democrats, tried to stand up for us and just got bashed by the media for being cry babies. And who in their right mind thinks the government, (the government, for heaven sakes!) can manage thousands of bad mortgages? PUH-LEASE! That's how we got in this mess, and now we are handing it back to the very people who mismanaged Fannie & Freddie in the first place expecting them to fix it! Welcome to Socialism. What an absolute nightmare!

Double Amen!
What ever happened to the free market?! I'm all for rewarding hard work and enterprising business leaders with low taxes and good salaries, but people should be willing to suck it up and pay for their mistakes as well. Our culture has gotten too used to getting ahead without working for it and now we are paying the consequences. Let's tighten our belts a little and show our kids we can be responsible and clean up our own messes.
